Homemade face masks are heavenly! Easy to apply, fun to use and great at delivering results! You can instantly feel tightened and toned after using one, which makes them the perfect skin care treatment to help you with your skin issues.

A good face mask can hydrate your skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores. Face masks are also an awesome way to help pull out impurities.

We strongly advise using all natural ingredients and what better way to use a face mask than creating and applying your own?

We’re huge fans of a citrusy face mask! Lemon juice is an incredibly popular treatment for acne, blemishes and oily skin. Citrus fruits are antibacterial and antioxidant, meaning that it can easily protect your skin from radical damage, repair skin cells and speed up new skin generation. Moreover, citrus works wonders.

Here’s how lemons can benefit your skin…

  • LUTEIN:

Lutein strengthens the skin’s natural antioxidant system and bolsters the skin’s UV defence; improves skin hydration and promotes skin elasticity. Lutein also fights against free radicals, which cause premature ageing. What is more, it increases the level of superficial lipids in skin.

  • VITAMIN C:

Vitamin C can help boost collagen production and promote skin elasticity. Vitamin C has also been found to help even out the skin tone and reduce the appearance of under-eye circles. This is great for those who are tired of trying to conceal the dark circles under their eyes and want to enjoy a more youthful, bright and vibrant appearance.

  • CITRIC ACID:

It helps to treat acne and pimples, as it shrinks and tightens pores. Besides, it brightens dull skin, helps reduce the visibility of dark spots, acne scars, blemishes and freckles, and it also evens out skin discolouration. Besides, citric acid slows the appearance of fine lines and fights wrinkles.

  • POTASSIUM:

Potassium hydrates and moisturises your skin whilst also soothing and healing.

HOMEMADE LEMON FACE MASK

What you need:

  •  ½ Organic lemon
  • 1 tbsp. of organic raw honey (Manuka honey has higher antibacterial properties, but regular honey is fine, too!)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

What you need to do:

  1. Squeeze ½ of the lemon into the mixing bowl; slowly mix in the honey and stir until the paste looks like a cough syrup.
  2. Apply the mask in circular motions to a freshly cleansed face (we wouldn’t recommend exfoliating/scrubbing as the lemon juice could make your face sting!)
  3. Let the mask sit for about 20/30 minutes.
  4. Rinse carefully with lukewarm water and pat your face dry.

Remember, you should do a face mask two to three times a week as your skin will need it!
